The Lacey & Larkin Frontera Fund was born when two men, Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey, won a settlement from Maricopa County in Arizona. The county had given them a huge settlement due to an incident that happened where their civil rights were being impeded upon. On October of 2007, suspicious vans with Mexican license plates rolled up to their homes. People came out of the vans and kidnapped Larkin and Lacey from their homes.

Fortunately, Larkin and Lacey were not really being kidnapped; they were just being abducted by government authorities and carted off to jail. Due to an outcry of people saying that what happened wasn’t right, Larkin and Lacey were released from jail in less than 24 hours.

The Lacey & Larkin Frontera Fund is an organization that gives attention to other organizations that support it’s causes. The Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund was founded in 1974 with the goal of promoting the rights of Asian Americans. AALDEF works alongside Asian communities to secure rights for everybody by combining education, litigation, organizing and advocacy.
